A medium-sized bustard (55-68 cm) found in tall grasslands of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. Males have a dramatic black head and white body during breeding. Critically Endangered with fewer than 1,000 individuals. Threatened by habitat loss and hunting.

Lesser Florican

A small bustard (45-51 cm) found in grasslands of the Indian subcontinent. Males in breeding plumage have a black head and neck with an elongated nuchal crest. Critically Endangered due to severe grassland habitat loss. Males perform spectacular leaping display flights.
