New Caledonian Storm-petrel

New Caledonian Storm-petrel, 18–20 cm, is an extremely poorly known species recorded only from around New Caledonia in the southwest Pacific. Until recently unconfirmed as a breeding species; a small colony was found in 2021. Morphology similar to Black-bellied Storm-petrel; conservation status under review.

Wilson's Storm-petrel

Wilson's Storm-petrel, 15–19 cm, wingspan 38–42 cm, may be the world's most abundant bird with billions breeding on Antarctic and sub-Antarctic islands. Dark brown with white rump, yellow-webbed feet dangling below body while 'walking' on water surface. Planktivore; skims copepods and krill. Circumglobal migrant.
