Lowland humid forest in the western Amazon basin of Peru, Ecuador, and adjacent Colombia and Brazil. Prefers undisturbed terra firme and seasonally flooded forest interior below 400 m.
Red-legged Tinamou
Tropical lowland forest, forest edges, and secondary growth in northern South America from Colombia and Venezuela east through the Guianas, below 1,200 m. Tolerates degraded forest and cultivated areas with remnant trees.

Bartlett's Tinamou
A small brown tinamou with obscure barring and a grey throat, named after naturalist Edward Bartlett. Found in the western Amazon basin in Peru, Ecuador, and adjacent Brazil. Terrestrial and cryptic; detected mainly by its soft clear whistle in humid forest.
Red-legged Tinamou
A medium-sized tinamou recognized by its bright red legs and feet contrasting with grey-brown plumage. Widespread in northern South America from Colombia and Venezuela east to Trinidad and the Guianas. Inhabits dry and humid forests and forest edges. Calls with a clear repetitive whistle.
