The Black-collared Starling is a large, boldly patterned starling of South and Southeast Asian open habitats, with white head, grey and white body, and a broad black collar. It ranges from Nepal and eastern India through Myanmar and southern China to Sumatra and Borneo, inhabiting open fields, forest edges, and urban areas. It feeds on insects, earthworms, fruits, and grain.
