Bewick's Wren is a lively, long-tailed wren of scrubby habitats, chaparral, and open woodlands across western North America. It is brown above with white underparts, a long barred tail held cocked upward, and a bold white eyebrow. It forages actively in dense vegetation for insects and spiders, and the male sings a complex, variable song.
