Black Bishop

The Black Bishop is a medium-sized weaver bird of sub-Saharan Central and East African grasslands and marshes, with breeding males showing striking jet-black plumage on the breast and belly contrasting with an orange-red crown and back. It inhabits moist grasslands, wetland edges, and cultivated areas with tall grass. It feeds on grass seeds and insects, and males perform conspicuous display flights during the breeding season.
