One of the smallest tinamous, with warm brown plumage, rufous underparts, and a red bill. Widespread from southern Mexico to Bolivia and central Brazil. Inhabits forest edges, thickets, and secondary growth in humid lowlands. Its loud ascending whistle carries far through dense vegetation.
