The rock pigeon is the ancestor of all domestic pigeon breeds and one of the most abundant birds in cities worldwide. Medium quail-dove, 24–28 cm, with purplish-brown iridescent upperparts, a white facial stripe, grey head, and pale underparts. Inhabits humid montane and submontane forest in Costa Rica, Panama, and western Colombia. Terrestrial granivore and frugivore. Least Concern.
