The rock pigeon is the ancestor of all domestic pigeon breeds and one of the most abundant birds in cities worldwide. Thick-billed Green-pigeon
Medium green-pigeon, 27–30 cm, named for its notably thick, curved bill adapted for crushing large fig seeds; male has a red bill base and maroon shoulder; female is green. Widespread in lowland and hill forest from the eastern Himalayas through Indochina to Sumatra, Borneo, and the Philippines. Frugivore of hard-seeded figs. Least Concern.
