About These Birds
Andean Cock-of-the-rock
The Andean Cock-of-the-rock is a spectacular cotingid with a 36.7 cm wingspan, weighing 245 grams. Males are brilliant orange-red with a large semicircular crest covering the bill, while females are brownish. It inhabits Andean cloud forests and rocky outcrops, where males gather at leks to display.
