About These Birds
New Britain Bronzewing
Medium-large terrestrial pigeon, 30–33 cm, similar to New Guinea Bronzewing but with a white head (not just forehead). Confined to lowland forests of New Britain in the Bismarck Archipelago. Feeds on seeds and fallen fruits on the forest floor. Least Concern.
Moreno's Ground Dove
Small dove, 17–20 cm, pale sandy-buff with a bare facial patch and dark spotted wings, closely similar to Bare-faced Ground Dove. Endemic to high-altitude Andean scrub and steppe of northwestern Argentina (Catamarca, La Rioja, San Juan). Granivore of seeds. Least Concern.
