About These Birds

Beija-flor-de-rabo-branco (Chlorestes candida), 8–9 cm. Macho com plumagem verde-brilhante, garganta verde-esmeralda, coberteiras caudais e cauda predominantemente brancas contrastantes. Habita florestas tropicais e bordas de mata na Amazônia e países vizinhos. Alimenta-se de néctar e insetos.

Allen's Hummingbird

A small hummingbird (8-9 cm) breeding along the Pacific coast from Oregon to southern California. Males have an orange-red throat and rufous flanks. Closely related to Rufous Hummingbird. Partial migrant; some populations resident on Channel Islands. Named after Thomas Allen.
