Habita florestas e matagais tropicais do Sul e Sudeste Asiático até a Austrália. Alimenta-se de sementes e frutas no solo. Voo rápido e baixo entre a vegetação.

The ancestor of the domesticated Barbary Dove (ring-necked dove). Granivore of grass seeds and small grains in dry savanna, farmland, and desert edge. Least Concern.
