About These Birds

Bare-necked Umbrellabird

Anambé-de-pescoço-pelado (Cephalopterus glabricollis), 41–48 cm. Plumagem preta com crista ereta e pendular distinta, região do pescoço com pele nua avermelhada exposta. Habita florestas úmidas das encostas do Pacífico da Costa Rica e Panamá. Alimenta-se de frutas e insetos. Ameaçado pelo desmatamento.

Bay-vented Cotinga

The Bay-vented Cotinga is a near-threatened, little-known cotinga restricted to humid elfin forests on ridges in Ecuador and northern Peru. It is a plump bird with dark plumage and a distinctive rufous-chestnut vent. It feeds on fruit in the high-altitude forest canopy, and its rarity and restricted range make it vulnerable to habitat disturbance.
