Pink-footed Shearwater
48 cm, wingspan 109 cm. Large shearwater; brown above, white below with pink feet; dusky underwing border. Breeds Juan Fernandez and Mocha islands, Chile; migrates to North Pacific. Vulnerable; threatened by introduced predators and longline bycatch. Feeds on fish and squid.
Mottled Petrel
33–36 cm. Dark grey above with bold dark M-mark; white below with distinctive dark belly patch. Breeds New Zealand subantarctic islands (Snares, Chatham, Antipodes). Migrates to North Pacific in boreal winter. Near Threatened; feeds on squid and crustaceans.
