About These Birds

Anna's Hummingbird

Anna's hummingbird is the most common hummingbird along the Pacific coast and one of only three species resident in the United States year-round. Males perform spectacular dive displays, plummeting from 40 meters and pulling up with a loud chirp produced by tail feathers. Their body temperature can drop to near ambient at night to conserve energy.

Royal Sunangel

O beija-flor-anjo-real é um chamativo beija-flor da floresta nublada do norte do Peru. O macho apresenta partes superiores azul-púrpura brilhante e partes inferiores azul-intenso. É uma das espécies mais belas da região andina. Habita nas florestas nubladas e matos do norte do Peru. A perda de habitat e a sua distribuição extremamente restrita classificam-no como espécie em perigo.
