How to Tell Them Apart

Blue-grey upperparts; chestnut-spotted white flank bars; grey crown; rufous-brown collar with white spots; reddish-orange bill and legs; white face. Closely resembles Red-legged Partridge but collar spotted.
Malaysian Crested Argus
Darker than Annamite Crested Argus; blackish-brown with buff ocelli and spotting throughout; long dark tail; white crest streaked black; bare blue-grey facial skin. Sexes similar in patterning.

Closely related to the Annamite Crested Argus but considered a separate species; males feature similar spectacularly elongated spotted tail feathers. Solitary and secretive.
