Barbary Partridge

Uma perdiz de médio porte da família Phasianidae, encontrada ao longo do norte da África e na ilha de Gibraltar. A Perdiz-de-barbary (Alectoris barbara) habita matagais de pedras e áreas semi-áridas com vegetação esparsa no Marrocos, Argélia, Tunísia, Líbia e nas Ilhas Canárias. Mede aproximadamente 32-35 cm. Caracterizada pela garganta laranja-avermelhada e flancos barrados. Alimenta-se de sementes, insetos e partes vegetais. Uma espécie adaptada a ambientes áridos e semi-áridos. Classificada como Pouco Preocupante pela UICN.

Chestnut-breasted Partridge

A medium-sized partridge (~270 g) of family Phasianidae, with a chestnut breast and finely barred plumage. Inhabits subtropical and montane forests in the eastern Himalayas from northeastern India through Bhutan to southwestern China. Forages for seeds and invertebrates on the forest floor. Near Threatened due to forest loss and hunting across its Himalayan foothill range.
