Taiwan Partridge
Brown above streaked black and buff; bare red around eye; throat pinkish-buff with dark scaling; breast grey with chestnut mottling; flanks grey streaked white. Endemic to Taiwan; moderate patterning.

A medium-sized partridge (~260 g) of family Phasianidae, with reddish-orange throat, dark brown upperparts, and scaly underparts. Endemic to the montane forests of Taiwan at 500–2,800 m elevation. Forages on the forest floor for seeds, berries, and invertebrates. Least Concern; Taiwan's mountain forests are well protected, supporting stable populations of this island endemic.
