Endemic to montane subtropical forests in southeastern China (Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang) at 600–1,700 m. Feeds on berries, leaves, and seeds. Vulnerable; restricted range heavily impacted by deforestation and fragmentation of Chinese subtropical forests.
