O andorinhão-de-agulha-maior é um grande andorinhão do leste asiático e sul da Ásia. Tem asas longas e estreitas, garganta branca e uma mancha colorida na rabadilla. Um dos pássaros mais rápidos do mundo em voo. Passa a maior parte da sua vida em voo, alimentando-se de insetos. Migra entre os locais de cria no leste asiático e os de invernagem na Austrália.
