O beija-flor-brilhante-de-fronte-violeta é um beija-flor de tamanho médio das encostas andinas da Venezuela, Colômbia, Equador e Peru. O macho tem partes superiores verdes com uma coroa violeta-iridescente brilhante e uma gorjeira verde. Alimenta-se do néctar de flores nas florestas de encosta e nubladas. A fêmea é mais apagada. Contribui para a polinização de muitas plantas andinas.

Nectarivore of Colombian and Venezuelan cloud forest; visits Ericaceae and Passiflora. Gleans small insects from bark.
