Um pintassilgo social da família Estrildidae, amplamente distribuído nas savanas africanas. O Frisada-corte-de-java (Amadina fasciata) habita savanas áridas e semiáridas, matagais e campos abertos ao longo da África Subsaariana, do Senegal ao Etiópia e ao sul. Mede aproximadamente 12-13 cm. Caracterizado pelo padrão de cabeça vermelho com pintas brancas e flancos barrados. Alimenta-se de sementes. É muito social e forma grandes bandos. Frequentemente usa ninhos abandonados de outros pássaros. Classificado como Pouco Preocupante pela UICN.
