Sobre
The Pagan Reed-warbler (<em>Acrocephalus yamashinae</em>) was a member of the family Acrocephalidae and was endemic to Pagan Island in the Northern Mariana Islands of the western Pacific. It inhabited both forest and wetland environments on its island. Detailed plumage and behavioral descriptions of this species are limited in the available literature. Nesting and clutch size data are not available. This species is classified as Extinct, having been lost due to the combined effects of habitat destruction and the introduction of predators, particularly the brown tree snake and rats, along with military activities and human settlement changes on Pagan Island. No confirmed sightings have been made for several decades. The Pagan Reed-warbler serves as a sobering example of the rapid extinction of Pacific Island endemic birds following human disturbance. Its loss represents an irreversible reduction in the biodiversity of the Mariana Islands avifauna.
