Um gavião pequeno e distintos da família Accipitridae, encontrado nas florestas de montanha da América Central. O Gavião-de-barriga-branca (Accipiter chionogaster) habita florestas montanas úmidas e bordas de floresta do México ao Nicarágua. Mede aproximadamente 28-34 cm. Caracterizado pelas partes inferiores brancas puras sem barras. Alimenta-se principalmente de pequenas aves e lagartos. Frequentemente avistado sobrevoando clareiras. Foi previamente tratado como subespécie do Gavião-de-Cooper. Classificado como Pouco Preocupante pela UICN.
