Um gavião de floresta robustamente construído da família Accipitridae, encontrado nas florestas tropicais da América Central e do Sul. O Gavião-bicolor (Accipiter bicolor) é amplamente distribuído desde o México até a Argentina, habitando florestas tropicais baixas e úmidas e bordas de floresta. Mede aproximadamente 34-45 cm e pesa entre 150-280 g. A plumagem varia por subespécie, mas geralmente apresenta partes superiores escuras e partes inferiores barradas. Alimenta-se principalmente de aves, morcegos e lagartos. Um predador ágil que caça dentro do dossel florestal. Classificado como Pouco Preocupante pela UICN.
