Pluvianellidae

Magellanic Plover; a monotypic family containing only one species, endemic to the shores of southernmost South America including Tierra del Fuego. Unusual among shorebirds in feeding on marine invertebrates by turning over stones. Closest relatives uncertain—possibly related to sheathbills.
