Pedionomidae

Plains-wanderer; a monotypic family containing only the Plains-wanderer, an enigmatic small bird of the Australian inland. Resembles a buttonquail but is phylogenetically closer to South American seedsnipes. Critically Endangered; restricted to native grasslands of southeastern Australia. Reversed sex roles.
