소형 벌새로 체장 약 7cm이며, 수컷은 초록 윗면에 반짝이는 자주색 목과 흰 배를 갖는다. 아르헨티나 북서부와 볼리비아 남부의 건조한 산지 관목지에 서식하는 고유종이다. 꽃의 꿀과 소형 곤충을 먹는다. 관심 필요 종이다.
