소형 뜸부기로 체장 약 14cm이며, 갈색 윗면에 줄무늬가 있는 아랫면과 밝은 오렌지색 옆구리를 갖는다. 남아메리카 북부의 저지대 사바나와 초지에 서식하는 희귀종이다. 씨앗과 곤충을 먹는다. 근접위협 종이다.

Lost following Polynesian settlement and later European contact. Part of the broader pattern of Pacific island rail extinctions linked to human arrival and introduced rats.
