소형 벌새로 체장 약 11cm이며, 수컷은 짙은 초록 몸통에 붉은색 목과 긴 검은색 꽁지를 갖는다. 페루와 볼리비아 고지대 관목지에 서식한다. 꽃의 꿀을 빨아 먹는다. 관심 필요 종이다.
