붉은부리갈매기는 유럽과 아시아에서 번식하는 중형 갈매기이다. 번식기에는 초콜릿 갈색 머리를 가지며 붉은 부리와 다리가 특징이다. 내륙 호수와 해안 모두에서 번식하며 물고기, 곤충, 쓰레기 등 다양한 먹이를 먹는다.
