검은꼬리갈매기는 동아시아에 서식하는 갈매기로 일본, 한국, 중국 해안에 분포한다. 굵은 부리와 검은 꼬리 띠가 특징이며 번식기에는 노란 부리 끝에 검은 띠와 붉은 점이 나타난다. 바위가 많은 해안과 섬에서 번식한다.
