밤색항문코팅가는 에콰도르·북부 페루의 능선 습윤 난쟁이림에 제한 분포하는 준위협의 잘 알려지지 않은 코팅가이다. 어두운 깃털과 특유의 황갈색 아랫부분을 가진 통통한 조류이다. 고지 삼림 수관부에서 과일을 먹으며 희귀성과 제한된 분포가 서식지 교란에 취약하게 만든다.
Andean Cock-of-the-rock
The Andean Cock-of-the-rock is a spectacular cotingid with a 36.7 cm wingspan, weighing 245 grams. Males are brilliant orange-red with a large semicircular crest covering the bill, while females are brownish. It inhabits Andean cloud forests and rocky outcrops, where males gather at leks to display.
