호킨스뜸부기(Diaphorapteryx hawkinsi). 멸종. 뉴질랜드 채텀 제도 고유의 대형 날지 못하는 뜸부기; 추정 50cm. 아화석 뼈로 알려짐. 유럽인 접촉 이전, 폴리네시아 정착민과 도입된 쥐에 의해 약 1400년경 멸종. 삼림 바닥의 잡식성.

Mascarene Coot

Mascarene Coot (Fulica newtonii) is an extinct giant coot formerly inhabiting Mauritius and Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Larger than Eurasian Coot; likely flightless or near-flightless. Extirpated by hunting and introduced predators in the 17th–18th centuries. Known from subfossil remains and written accounts by early European visitors.
