얼룩 뻐꾸기새(Centropus ateralbus) — 55-60 cm. 인상적인 흑백 뻐꾸기새로 광택 있는 검은 날개와 꼬리, 순백색 머리, 목, 아랫면이다. 파푸아뉴기니 뉴 브리튼과 인근 섬의 삼림 가장자리와 이차림에 제한적으로 분포한다. 비기생성이다. 잡식성으로 도마뱀, 대형 곤충, 소형 척추동물을 사냥한다. 국지적으로 안정적인 상태다.
중간 크기의 땅뻐꾸기로 체장 약 28cm이며, 갈색 윗면에 밝은 밤색 아랫면, 붉은 눈테를 갖는다. 멕시코에서 코스타리카까지 건조 및 반건조 지역의 숲과 관목지에 서식한다. 바닥에서 곤충, 도마뱀, 작은 씨앗을 먹는다. 관심 필요 종이다.
