아프리카와 이스라엘에 분포하는 소형 참매로 절벽과 험준한 지형에서 번식한다. 위면은 갈색이고 아랫면과 꼬리는 붉은 빛의 황갈색이다. 높은 절벽과 돌이 많은 경사면에서 기류를 타며 날아다닌다. 주로 도마뱀과 소형 포유류를 먹는다.
