꿩과에 속하는 중간 크기의 자고새(약 340g)로, 붉은색·검은색·흰색의 복잡한 무늬와 오렌지빛 붉은 머리가 특징입니다. 파키스탄에서 중국 남서부까지 히말라야 지역의 아열대 및 산지 활엽수림과 대나무 덤불에 서식합니다. 숲 바닥에서 씨앗, 열매, 무척추동물을 먹습니다. 히말라야 산기슭에 흔히 서식하는 관심대상 종입니다.
Willow Grouse
들꿩은 북극과 아북극 지역에 서식하는 뇌조 종류이다. 겨울에는 흰색으로 변해 눈 속에서 완벽한 위장을 하며 여름에는 갈색의 얼룩무늬 깃털을 가진다. 북극 툰드라와 아한대 초원에서 식물의 싹, 새싹, 열매 등을 먹는다.
