쌍색매는 멕시코에서 중앙아메리카를 거쳐 볼리비아와 아르헨티나까지 분포하는 중형 삼림 매이다. 회색 윗면, 흰색~적갈색 아랫면, 짙은 삼림에서 새와 소형 포유류를 사냥하기에 적합한 긴 다리를 가진다. 삼림 내부에서 은폐된 횃대에서 먹이에 기습을 가하는 은밀한 포식자이다.
