호관류과(Cracidae)에 속하는 대형 호관류(약 1.4kg)로, 온몸이 검은색이며 목 아래에 특징적인 노란색과 파란색 육수(肉垂)가 매달려 있다. 베네수엘라와 콜롬비아에서 페루까지 안데스 산악 운무림의 해발 500~2,500m에 서식한다. 수목성이며 과실과 씨앗을 먹는다. 관심 필요 종으로, 비교적 교란이 없는 외딴 안데스 운무림에 서식한다.
Alagoas Curassow
대형 검은색 큐라소 새로 체장 약 89cm이며, 전신이 광택 있는 검은색이고 보석처럼 붉은 부리와 파란 기저를 갖는다. 야생에서는 멸종한 것으로 추정되며 브라질 북동부 대서양 숲에 서식했다. 과실류와 씨앗을 먹었다. 멸종위기 종이다.
