Blacksmith Lapwing: 28–31 cm, boldly patterned black, white, and grey lapwing with a sharp carpal spur and metallic alarm call resembling a hammer on an anvil. Common resident of open wetland margins and short grassland in eastern and southern Africa. Feeds on invertebrates. Sedentary and highly territorial.
