중간 크기의 마다가스카르 고유 조류로 체장 약 32cm이며, 갈색과 흰색 줄무늬 몸통에 긴 꽁지와 짧은 날개를 갖는다. 마다가스카르 남서부 건조 가시 덤불에 서식하는 고유종이다. 잘 날지 않으며 씨앗과 곤충을 먹는다. 취약한 상태이다.
