수컷의 총 길이가 10cm에 달하는 전선 같은 긴 꼬리를 가진 7–8 cm의 소형 벌새. 흰 허리 띠가 있는 빛나는 녹색 깃털. 코스타리카에서 에콰도르 서부까지 습윤림에 서식. 수관부의 작은 꽃에 정지비행하며 꿀을 먹는 꿀 먹는 새. 요정 같은 비행.

Nectarivore visiting small flowers at forest canopy and edges. Forages in groups at flowering trees; takes small insects in flight.
