소개
수염딱따구리는 동·남부 아프리카의 사바나 삼림지대와 건조림에 서식하는 크고 뚜렷한 무늬의 딱따구리이다. 흑백 얼굴 줄무늬, 수컷의 붉은 머리, 죽은 나무를 파내는 데 적응된 길고 강한 부리를 가진다. 나무껍질과 죽은 목재에서 목재 갉는 딱정벌레 유충·개미·곤충을 먹는다.
