13 cm의 가는 칼새로 인도에서 필리핀·인도네시아까지 남아시아·동남아시아에 널리 분포. 깊이 갈라진 꼬리를 가진 어두운 갈색 깃털. 야자나무와 밀접하게 연관되어 야자잎 아래에 둥지를 튼다. 열대 저지에서 흔하다.
