15–16 cm의 중형 칼새로 아르헨티나 북서부·볼리비아 남부의 1,000–3,000m 고도 산지림에 서식. 어두운 그을린 깃털. 삼림 계곡 위를 날며 먹이를 구하는 공중 곤충식성. 폭포 뒤에 둥지를 튼다. 드물고 국지적; 월터 로스차일드의 이름을 따서 명명.
