용골형 부리와 긴 꼬리를 가진 대형의 완전 검은색 뻐꾸기(46~48cm). 남미 열대 강변 삼림, 습지, 농경지에 서식. Ani류 중 가장 큰 종이며 사회적으로 번식한다.
