검은머리 나이팅게일 개똥지빠귀는 검은 머리와 회색 몸통, 밝은 오렌지색 부리와 눈 고리를 가진 중형 은밀한 개똥지빠귀다. 멕시코에서 과테말라, 온두라스를 거쳐 니카라과까지 습한 산악 삼림에 서식하며, 일반적으로 해발 1,000-2,500 m에 분포한다. 삼림 바닥과 낮은 하층부에서 과일, 장과, 무척추동물을 먹으며 아름다운 멜로딕한 노래를 부른다.
