남아시아에서 동남아시아와 오세아니아에 걸쳐 넓게 분포하는 대형 쏙독새(25-33 cm). 갈색 몸통에 굵은 황갈색 목 반점이 특징이다. 삼림 개활지와 가장자리에서 황혼과 야간에 곤충을 먹는다. 지속적인 리듬감 있는 tok-tok-tok 울음소리가 특징이다.
