콜롬비아 서부와 에콰도르 해발 1,200~2,400m 운무림에 서식하는 중간 크기의 벌새(11~12cm)입니다. 수컷은 녹색 홍채가 있는 어두운 벨벳 자주색 깃털을 가집니다. 초코 운무림의 꿀을 먹습니다. 뚜렷하고 어두운 깃털의 벌새입니다.
